The raked garden at Ryoanji Temple in Kyoto is renowned for it's stillness. The garden seeps timelessness and contemplation.
The Shinkansen in contrast travels at high speed through the countryside. As can be seen from the left side of the image, at high speeds visual reality melts into an interconnected state. I was conscious of the thought that the train is traveling through space, and we were heading to this timeless place. Yet of course the train is traveling through time, and the garden occupies space. So there it is: space and time are connected.
