Human/Nature is a a series of works that contrasts human made with natural structures, using images of Norfolk Island.
In some ways, Human/Nature has been a way to explore and understand some of my roots, my whakapapa, my DNA and come to terms with parts of me that are close to this context.
While the above image doesn't address human and nature in the way the previous images in the series have, there is something here of the gaze of the human, looking down at sea flow and the consequent passage of time. This was part of the motivation behind the Space-time works based on my experience of Ryonaji.
Norfolk Island is of course surrounded by water, and for me it is suitable to conclude the series of works with an image that so strongly references flow and water. There is a reason I introduce myself as 'from the sea.' Norfolk is a very big part of that.
