daughters Unlike
hamsters, which share one type of mtDNA, the [European] human test subjects' DNA
clearly fit into seven distinct groups: the seven daughters on the European family
tree. The "daughters" notion is more figurative than literal, as it
broadly refers to seven matriarchal genetic groups, rather than to seven individual
women. Leonardo
Salviati, a post doctoral researcher at Columbia University who specializes in
mitochondrial DNA studies, says Sykes' theory "is plausible ... mitochondrial
DNA allows us to trace human evolution," says Salviati. "DNA mutates
at a very slow rate, so if you can accumulate mutations and categorize them in
specific groups, you can draw direct ancestral lineages." Further,
all seven of the genetic groups appear to be descended from the "Lara"
clan, one of three clans that still exist today in Africa. Native
Americans... appear to have descended from Asians who migrated to the Americas
sometime between 30,000 and 3000 BC. Melton says they seem to have limited mtDNA
variations, meaning that they probably descended from just a few Asian lineages. Mathematics
was once said to be 'unreasonably adept' at capturing the dance of nature. The
key to DNA is the interplay of four chemical components, called, A, C, T and G.
Odd numerical games are sometimes played. Pairs of A, C, T and G join together
following a few simple rules, and then twist in a spiral that resembles a twisted
ladder. Sequences of DNA play a role in determining behaviour in everything from
the morphology of branching to what living things look like. Humans and trees
share around 25% of the same genes (the branching and transportation genes). Rats
aren't far way, at around 86% shared with human. Monkeys, gorillas, chimpanzees
and their cousins come in at up to 94-96% shared. All differences in race, gender
and skin colour accounts for less than 1% of DNA It was once said you could probably
cobble together a human, that in the end you might not even need a human to clone
one. We are both
identified, and nullified by DNA At the very instance of quantifying what 'I'
structurally might be, our shared identity (e.g. Maori DNA is descendent from
Chinese) with all other races and humans is revealed. What
does DNA have to do with seven? For example, see the paragraph sixth above this
one.
